Pre-build technical advisory

The expensive mistakes happen before anyone writes code.

Independent technical guidance for founders on the calls that come first: architecture, stack, and who builds it. So you don’t spend months and real money finding out the hard way.

A compass never points quite where you need to go. Every one of them reads a few degrees off, and the correction has a name. Working out the size of that gap, before you commit to a heading, is the whole job.

Tell me what you’re building

A few lines is plenty to start. I read every one of these myself.

Or reach me directly

No deck, no discovery call you have to sit through first. Tell me roughly what you have in mind and I’ll tell you what I’d want to know next.

Ways to work together

Where most people start

Pre-Build Deep-Dive

A focused, few-week engagement to land the decisions that matter before you write code: architecture, stack, and build-vs-buy. You walk away with a clear plan to hand to whoever builds it.

And afterwards

Ongoing Advisory Retainer

For founders who want continued technical judgment past the initial deep-dive: an ongoing, fractional-CTO-style relationship you can lean on as decisions keep coming up.

How I work

Independent, before you commit

Red Eye Development is primarily me, Greg, working directly with you. When an engagement calls for it I bring in specialists (security, infrastructure, whatever the decision actually needs), but I stay the person you talk to throughout.

I’m not a dev shop and I’m not pitching a build. That matters: nobody here gets paid more if the answer is a bigger project. My job is to help you make the pre-build call correctly, so the money you spend building only gets spent once.

Is this you?

  • You’re non-technical, or your team doesn’t have a technical leader yet
  • You haven’t started building, or just started, and need to decide how
  • The decision is architecture, stack, or who builds it, not marketing or sales
  • Any industry, any funding stage: this is about where you are, not what you do

If you’re about to hand a large check to a dev shop and something about the plan hasn’t sat right, that feeling is usually worth a conversation. It costs a lot less to check now than to find out in month five.
